CauseStack Essentials cost $0. Not a trial. Not a teaser.
Nonprofits are encouraged to move to Salesforce, and then the extra bills start: an app for duplicates, another for forms, another for letters, another for email, and someone to hold it all together.
Too many organizations end up paying more to keep Salesforce working than they planned to spend on Salesforce itself.
We’ve spent nine years inside nonprofit Salesforce orgs. We saw the same gaps everywhere, patched with accelerators, starter kits and half-finished add-ons. So we built a product, not a patch: complete tools that install in the org you already have, that we maintain, and that keep working as Salesforce changes.
If nonprofits adopt Salesforce, they deserve the tools to run it.
Until recently, that wasn’t realistic. AI has changed what it costs to build and maintain software, for us and for you. That’s what lets us offer the essentials at $0, and offer Alfred to help your team keep Salesforce running.

No surprises
Yes, we earn as a reseller. Here’s how it works.
Some of the tools a nonprofit needs, we resell. You’d be paying for that subscription anyway, so we let the vendor pay us, not you.
We only resell best-of-breed tools with the most nonprofit-friendly pricing, and you pay the advertised price, exactly as if you bought direct.
That fee helps fund the work that keeps Essentials at $0.
Questions we hear.
How can you make it free?
Essentials run inside your own Salesforce org, on the Salesforce you already pay for, so most of them cost us very little to provide. Doc Merge’s PDF service is the exception, and we cover it. We earn from optional add-ons, hands-on services and reseller fees, and every one of those is explained on this page.
What if you’re not around in 3–5 years?
Cause3 has built nonprofit Salesforce tools for nine years, and nonprofits pay for them today. Your contacts, gifts and accounts live in your Salesforce, not ours, and most Essentials keep running inside your org on their own.
Our commitment: we’ll keep releasing updates and supporting CauseStack for as long as there is a community using it. The community finds problems, suggests features, votes on priorities and shapes the roadmap. We build and maintain the product.
What if NPSP isn’t around in 3–5 years?
CauseStack runs on NPSP and on Nonprofit Cloud. We build it to work with either on purpose, so you’re never locked in to one, now or later.
Will your prices change?
Every price is published on this page, and Essentials cost $0 because that’s the point of CauseStack. We use AI to build faster and at lower cost, and AI is priced in a way that makes that possible today. We can’t promise that will never change, any more than anyone can promise what salaries or the cost of living will do.
What we can promise: we’ll tell you about any price change at least 60 days before your annual renewal, so you can budget for it.
Our budget year doesn’t start in January. Can we line up with it?
Yes. Nonprofits run on different budget cycles, so if you start an add-on partway through your budget year, we prorate it for the months that are left. Then it renews with your budget year.
For example, if your budget year starts in August and you start an add-on in May, you pay for May, June and July: a quarter of the annual price. Your first full year starts in August.
Can we try an add-on before we pay?
Yes. Every paid add-on starts with a 14-day trial.
What happens to our data if we uninstall CauseStack?
It’s your data, and it lives in your Salesforce. Contacts, accounts, gifts and campaigns are untouched. When any managed package is uninstalled, Salesforce also removes the package’s own records, which for CauseStack means things like segments, form submissions and merge templates. If you’d like to keep them, export them first with Salesforce’s standard Data Export.
Will it conflict with the apps and customizations we already have?
CauseStack installs alongside what you have, in its own namespace, and you can adopt one tool at a time.
Who helps us if something breaks? Is support included?
Essentials come with self-service support. Your Salesforce administrator, whether that’s your own team, an outside consultant or Cause3, keeps supporting you as they do today. With Alfred AI turned on, your team can lean on Alfred too.
Do we need a Salesforce admin?
CauseStack makes Salesforce easier to run. Essentials take care of everyday jobs like cleaning up duplicates, importing data and sending email, and Alfred AI goes further, handling many routine admin requests in plain English.
But Salesforce is an enterprise platform with a lot of moving parts and regular updates, and a good administrator brings more than technical skill: years of lessons learned, best practices, and the capacity to do the work and check it. That’s why we recommend having someone in that role, whether it’s your own staff, an outside consultant, or Cause3 through Partnered Services.
