About

Built for nonprofits, by people who serve them.

Why we built it

We came to nonprofits from different directions, but we ended up doing the same work: building Salesforce systems for them, one org at a time, one contract at a time. After enough of those, the pattern was impossible to miss — we were both solving the same handful of problems on basically every engagement.

And it wasn’t the organizations’ fault. Nonprofits get treated as an afterthought by enterprise software: too small to prioritize, too mission-driven to push back, too tight on budget to demand better. A donor portal, a form, deduping their contacts, a receipt they could send themselves: every one was a separate tool, a separate bill, a separate login. Something breaks, and the fix is a consultant at $150 an hour. Even the tools that called themselves “free” usually weren’t.

Your Salesforce isn’t broken. It’s just unfinished.

We’d each spent years circling the same problem from a different angle, so when our worlds came together the move was obvious: stop charging by the hour and start building the thing every one of those orgs actually needed.

Every feature in CauseStack started as a real problem we’d watched an organization run into, not a line on a roadmap — the everyday tools at no cost, the bigger pieces at one public price a nonprofit can actually pay. We got tired of billing people for plumbing. This is what we built instead.

Matt Souza and Sean Ramsey, co-founders of CauseStack. Both nonprofit Salesforce practitioners long before we were founders.

The vision

The platform nonprofits should have had from the start.

40,000+ nonprofits sit on a Salesforce foundation that stopped getting new features back in early 2023. Every path forward asks the same thing: rebuild from scratch. We think that’s the wrong question.

Where nonprofits are

We’re stuck choosing between an expensive migration and slow decay.

Where we take them

We can modernize our system without breaking or rebuilding anything.

You shouldn’t have to start over to move forward.

What we stand on

Our values

These aren’t marketing material. They’re the standard we measure our own decisions against.

Nonprofits first

We measure our success by the success of the organizations we serve. When decisions conflict, we optimize for long-term sector impact over short-term gain.

Honest over comfortable

We surface operational issues and product limitations early, so they can be solved together. Radical honesty with each other, transparency with our partners.

Built to last

We build infrastructure the sector can depend on permanently: robust engineering, strict data privacy, and organizational resilience. We are not building to flip.

Care for the team

We can’t care for the sector if we don’t first care for our own team. We pay a market wage, value outcomes over hours, and reject a culture of burnout.
